Delhi India Delhi is a microcosm of India. The city reflects the cultural diversity and religious unity of India. Delhi has a glorious and tumultuous history of over 5000 years. The city has been the seat of power to all the important dynasties that have ruled India. Beginning from Indraprastha ruled by Pandavas, to Sultanate rule, to Mughal era and finally ending with British Raj, Delhi has seen it all. Each era has left its indelible imprint on the cultural landscape of Delhi. Delhis magnificient architecture is a manifestation of its glorious past. Delhi is one of the vertices of the famed golden triangle, Agra and Jaipur being the other two. The city is seen as the gateway to Indiatransit point to Agra, Jaipur, Shimla and other tourist attractions of northern India. But to view Delhi as a mere changeover point would be a great folly. The city itself has lot to offer to the tourists. The city is home to two world heritage sitesQutab Minar and Humayun Tomb. The other main attractions of Delhi are Red Fort, India Gate, Akshardham Temple, Bahai Temple and Connaught Place. The latest addition to the list of tourist attractions in Delhi is the Metro train. Delhi is also famous for its delicious food. |
